BarCampLA-5 Has A Venue!
How rude of me! I haven’t even mentioned that we’ve managed to get our venue situation all straightened out. The fine folks at AOL have gone ahead and offered up the use of their Beverly Hills campus for our use.
We’re sad to not be at Little Radio this time around, but they’re undergoing pretty major renovations right now. This means we had to find a new home for the event and AOL seriously came thru for us in the clutch. Because of this, we totally <3 them for stepping up.
From what I’ve seen — and heard from previous events that have been held there — the AOL campus is a super nice venue. They have free underground parking and a secure facility. It’s way fancy and befitting of a venue in the 90210.
Because of the fact that it’s a secure facility tho, we’re going to have to build a proper guest list. This means that if you’ve already signed up on the wiki, at Upcoming or on Facebook, we’re going to need you to add your name to the list over on Google Spreadsheets. If you don’t do that, security will not let you in.
So please sign up as soon as you can. We’d really like to get a proper head count and a solid guest list. Oh, and try to add yourself and your talk to the list on the wiki so other folks know who’s showing up and what we could be discussing. Even if you don’t know what you’re going to talk about, putting your name down there as well would be extremely helpful.
The final schedule breakdown and a bunch of other details will be up here and on the wiki by this weekend. By then y’all should see everything that we’ve got in store for you. It’s seriously going to be pretty sweet — and we’re looking forward to seeing all the old and new faces that we can.
