I promised that I’d have a few videos up from our visit to uWink once Revver processed them — so here they are!
First up, Revver’s resident Python genius TV peruses the menu and plays around with the options. I don’t think he ever ordered that chicken sandwich tho…
Next up, Bino plays a quick tile matching game. He was playing on the “expert” setting, so don’t hold the loss against him, okay?
I’ve also upped some photos from the evening over at Flickr. Feel free to check out the set when you’ve got a second.
The dinner at uWink last night was an absolutely outstanding time as well as a decent meal. I mean, the food was as much a topic of discussion as the kiosks and games were. Granted, making it out to Woodland Hills was quite a task for a few of us, but everyone who came seemed to have a blast — I know I did.
Thanks to Brent and Nolan Bushnell for letting the lot of us play with their very promising beta of an eatery. Hopefully they prove successful enough to spread far and wide.
P.S. BarCamper Douglas Welch was nice enough to tip me off to his interview with Nolan. Give it a listen!
P.P.S. I should have some…
Mack has done an outstanding write-up of the weekend’s events that is totally worth your time. Check it out!
Never let it be said that geeks crave sleep. The same dozen-odd souls that were up last night bangin’ on the Nintendo at 2 a.m. were up this morning by 8, slathering Razzleberry jam on bagels, chugging coffee and rolling up the rattling metal door of the Little Radio warehouse. And no, I wasn’t wincing in my sleeping bag, I joined them.
The schedule’s full and the presentations are just getting started as the less-hardy geeks straggle in from their comfy beds out IRL.
If anyone else has written up their feelings or reflections on the weekend, please feel free to…
This weekend was a real blast for me. I had no idea that I would encounter such a diverse set of people and projects at BarCamp LA. I’ll never forget the werewolf game, the truly awesome 1 second film, watching PhD’s hack logo, getting GTDominated by mistress chi chi and hanging out with such a cool set of people.
I didn’t get a lot of people’s contact info, but if we talked (or even if we didn’t) don’t hesitate to drop me a note at pete thethingyabovethetwokey maruronic dot com.
p.s.
The smiles on everyone’s face when they hacked their camcorders were priceless. I worked all evening documenting the project. If you made a camera, please drop a comment or…
I’m really quite tired — and it’s going to be hard to drag my ass out of bed in the morning — but I had a great time tonight. The list of sessions on the wall look like an amazing mix. Talks on everything from XML-RPC and LOGO to abstract chess and alternative energy are scheduled for tomorrow. I don’t know about the rest of you, but it’ll be really hard for me to choose what I want to see…
Thanks to everyone for making tonight an amazing success. I can’t wait to see most of y’all again sometime in the AM. Cheers!
